TOLAR, Texas Fire Update — A large grass fire was indicated Tuesday afternoon, August 25, 2026, near the railroad tracks on the Granbury side of Tolar, prompting a response from local firefighters as smoke was visible from surrounding areas.
Based on to reports from the Hood County Express, updated information placed the fire between Tolar and Granbury, rather than between Tolar and Bluff Dale as initially reported. The fire was described as being near the railroad tracks coming into Tolar, in an area before Meyers and closer to Loop 567.
A photograph shared by the Hood County Express showed a large column of dark smoke rising from the area. Residents also noted seeing significant smoke from locations around Tolar, with one public post describing a fire near U.S. 377 and under the bridge.
Additional reports indicated that Tolar firefighters were contacted regarding a fire near Powell Cemetery Road. The reports did not give a verified acreage for the Tolar fire or establish the extent of any property damage.
The incident came as multiple wildfires were being reported across North Texas. Separate reports concerning the Ross Fire described a much larger blaze that had burned tens of thousands of acres, while additional fire activity was also reported in the Lipan area.
The Hood County Express indicated that it was continuing to seek confirmed information regarding the size of the Tolar fire, emergency reply and any effects on nearby roads or property. At the time of the available reports, officials had not released a affirmed cause for the fire.
Residents in and around Tolar are urged to remain alert to official fire and emergency-management updates, particularly as dry conditions can allow grass and brush fires to spread rapidly. Any evacuation orders, road closures, injuries or additional property impacts should be affirmed through local authorities as the situation develops.
