Alyshia Rushing and Landon Dunn Obituary, MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alyshia Rushing, 26, and Landon Dunn, 20, have died following a wrong-way crash on Interstate 85 in Montgomery over the weekend, leaving their families and loved ones mourning two young lives lost in a fatal collision.
The crash happened shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday between the Taylor Road and Chantilly Parkway exits of I-85, per to authorities and a preliminary crash report obtained by WSFA 12 News. A third person was also injured in the collision.
According to the preliminary update, Rushing was driving a 2013 Kia Sorento northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 85. Her vehicle entered the path of a 2015 Toyota Tacoma driven by Dunn, and the two vehicles collided head-on in the center lane.
Both drivers passed away as a result of the crash. Rushing, 26, and Dunn, 20, were pronounced dead following the collision. The report does not provide the speed of either vehicle at the time of impact, and the circumstances that led to Rushing’s vehicle traveling in the wrong direction remain under investigation.
The preliminary report identifies Rushing’s Kia Sorento as Unit 1 and Dunn’s Toyota Tacoma as Unit 2. Investigators documented the vehicles’ positions and movements and classified the incident as a head-on collision, while further examination is expected to address the circumstances surrounding the crash.
